Laura Siciliano-Rosen
I've been a freelance writer since 2003, when I quit my full-time job and left my New York City apartment to travel the world for half a year. Travel writing especially appeals to me – it conveniently provides me with a steady writing outlet plus an essential excuse to keep exploring, near and far – but I also write on entertainment, nightlife, and health topics. Photography is another passion of mine, and while I sometimes publish my photos alongside my words, my husband, Scott B. Rosen, is a professional photographer who's always up for the job.
A Brooklyn resident for seven years, I admittedly love to write about my home city, but I have no qualms about packing up and leaving it. In recent months, I've traveled to Guatemala, Slovenia, Barcelona, Croatia, Montenegro, Paris, Cape Cod, Chicago, south Florida, and the Pacific Northwest; next up is the Dominican Republic. Among the publications I've written for are US Airways Magazine, New York Magazine (and nymag.com), New York Living, The New York Sun, Draft, New Jersey Savvy Living, Time Out NY, International Living, On DirecTV, and BCN Week (Barcelona); books I've contributed to include The Rough Guide to Florida, the Zagat Survey 2008 New York City Restaurant guide and 2007/08 Nightlife guide, and Shecky’s 2007 New York Bar, Club & Lounge Guide (also on Sheckys.com).
